[Costco] Time to stock up on lawn products for next spring - Scotts Turf Builder Weed Prevent 18.2KG for $39.97
- Price:
- $39.97
- Savings:
- 33.33% off
- Retailer:
- Costco
Can't find this on Costco's website as I suspect this deal may not be at all Costco stores (*.97 price) and that we are out of season. But this is the Weed Prevent corn gluten meal (https://www.scotts.com/en-ca/products/c ... luten-meal). Usually goes for $59.99. Now $39.97.
This is not chemical fertilizer like other Scotts products. I use this in the spring, before dandelions start to grow. It won't kill all dandelions. But weaken it enough to stunt growth. On my lawn, I've no dandelions but I spray it to prevent new growth. More info on corn gluten meal https://www.epicgardening.com/corn-gluten-meal/
Usually, the best time to buy seasonal goods is when we enter the off season and stores try to clear inventory. I always stock up next year's lawn products in the fall. This blend is not to be confused with the similar looking Scotts Fall Lawn Food, which is in-season and sells for the full $59.95. Look for the Fall Lawn Food around Christmas time.

I've used Scotts weed prevent before. I didn't really get many weeds so it seemed like it worked, however I don't know if I would have got a lot of weeds if I hadn't used it, so it's a bit hard to just how effective it is.

Trust me, once you have one, it will expand/grow like crazy.

it has the star of death, so this product isn't coming back next year
My phone plan is $400 a month for 500 MB of data.
My internet plan is $199.99 for capped internet and slow speeds.
My credit cards are the ones with annual fees but terrible rewards.
Did I RFD correctly?

Same here. My lawn only had a few where my neighbours have gardens of them. But again, I am the only person who take care of the lawn in my neighbourhood.

As an FYI - Scotts has a $5 coupon for certain products at certain retailers. Valid Aug 15 - Oct 15.

The star of death? You mean the one that says this is the last product they have on hand? That alone is not an indicator that it's not coming back, it only means there is no more product on the shelves to be brought down. To the studies that were posted above, that seems more like some studies against misinformation. Yes, this product does nothing to weeds that have already germinated, if you're using it for that it won't work. Yes, it's not selective, so if you try to plant grass seed within 6ish weeks of putting this down, it's probably a waste of seed. I had a lot of crabgrass in my lawn, and I pulled out as much as I could by hand before laying this down....note it's best to use this late in the season, like October timeframe before the snow so it's still on the lawn in spring when weeds start popping up, and don't skimp on it, lay down a lot of it. I did this and the crabgrass was gone the following year (its not a perennial, laying this prevented the seeds from re-germinating). Only marginally effective vs dandelions, but they seed themselves year round, so may help a bit.
My nick doesn't mean I'm happy any more than yours means you're a sex machine.
